Why Intellectual parties are failing?

Few people from the top premier colleges are starting political parties. Most of them are not successful. A friend of mine explained why it is little difficult for them to do it.

Most of the highly intellectual people talk at very high level. What is the economic policy of India, what is our status on foreign relationships etc. A common man never bothers about those. Each person has their own set of problems. They have problems like water, current, roads etc., If they face those problems, and if anyone solves those, then they will start supporting him/her. It does not matter whether the person is good or bad, takes bribe or not. If he/she is going to solve their problems, then people are going to support them. That's it. How many of the highly intellectual people are going to solve their simple problems. The same reason why Manmohan Singh lost to Vijay Kumar Malhotra in South Delhi. Vijay Kumar Malhotra is a well known person there, and the people knew him since 1977 (In 1977, he was first elected as MP from South Delhi). Manmohan Singh is a highly intellectual person. But, he cannot solve their local problems, where as Vijay Kumar Malhotra can. So, they elected him.

In politics, one needs to have lot of commitment and patience. We cannot show the results in one day or one month or even one year. We have to spend decades to change the system. If it had been that much easier, many people would have changed it long time back. It is not trivial to change 30% of the Indians (to form a government at center). The commitment is lacking in the highly educated people. They should work for their vision every week continuously for years. If they work for few weeks, and then stop for few weeks, then it will not work out.

Except in the case of Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayana, there is nobody who has changed the system in less than a decade. Of course, Indira Gandhi's mistake was also a main reason in his success.

Jayaprakash Narayana (of Andhra Pradesh) started Loksatta around 12 years back. And now, it is in a situation to contest at all the places in Andhra Pradesh. It took 12 years to reach this situation.

If a handful of people wants to change the country overnight, either they have to bring a very big celebrity, or bring crores of rupees. If it had been so simple, the country would have been in much better position long time back.

Satyam effect: Directors of 70 firms exit

The Satyam turbulence is spreading fast, with independent directors of 70 companies including Zee News, EID Parry India, Bharat Electronics, Dr Reddy's Labs, Coromandel Fertilisers and TVS Motors, exiting their respective firms. "The independent director's role is not very well defined and this could give rise to complications," said one of the directors who have put in their papers.

Considering the uncertainties in their duties, prominent independent directors have relinquished their posts, reported Business Line. Some of the directors include V.V. Ranganathan of Zee News, Umesh Kumar Khaitan of Indo Rama Synthetics, Lt. Gen. R.S. Nagra of Empee Sugars & Chemicals and T.R. Prasad, who had quit from the Satyam board. He has also resigned from TVS Motors, Nelcast, Taj GVK Hotels and GMR Infrastructure. "If an independent director has to check the bank balance of the company, the profit margin of different verticals and other financial aspects, then he will be playing the role of an auditor," he said.

Analysts feel it will become increasingly difficult for companies to find suitable replacements within the six-month time-frame stipulated by the Securities and Exchange Board of India. According to D.R. Dogra, Deputy Managing Director, Care Ratings the infamous Satyam episode has now made financial officers and directors more diligent. They will be more cautious in their approach while signing up as independent directors in the future.

The Government has estimated that India Inc will require 3,000-4,000 independent directors within the next few months so that companies may comply with SEBI's listing requirements. Over a period of time nearly 18,000 people would be required to work as independent directors in over 4,500 listed companies.

[Humour] Latest Watch

There was a gentleman walking with two heavy suitcases in an airport terminal.

Someone approached and asked him what time it was. He stares at his watch. But this was no ordinary watch! He touches a tiny button and his administrative assistant's face appears.

He asks her, "Mary, what time is it?" Mary answers instantly and with a smile! The questioner is thoroughly impressed!!!

He asks, "What kind of a watch is that?" "It's like a TV with two-way real-time communication," the gentleman explains.

He adds that the watch is the latest technology with Intel's brand new 128-bit chip with processor speed of 10 Gigahertz.

The onlooker is now quite impressed and wanted to know if he could buy this watch from the gentleman. They agree on a price and the cash was handed immediately.

The gentleman takes his watch out and hands it over and then walks away.

The new owner stares at the two heavy suitcases and shouts, "Sir, you forgot your suitcases."

The gentleman stops, smiles, and replies, "No sir, they are yours now. They are the CPU and modems you need for your new watch"

Love and Life

This story tells us something about LOVE & LIFE.

My husband is S/W Engineer by profession, I love him for his steady nature and I love the warm feeling when I lean against his broad shoulders.

Two years of courtship and now, five years into marriage, I would have to admit, that I am getting tired of it. The reasons of me loving him before, has now transformed into the cause of all my restlessness.

I am a sentimental woman and extremely sensitive when it comes to a relationship and my feelings. I yearn for the romantic moments, like a little girl yearning for candy. My husband is my complete opposite; his lack of sensitivity, and the inability of bringing romantic moments into our marriage has disheartened me about LOVE.

One day, I finally decided to tell him my decision, that I wanted a divorce.

"Why?" he asked, shocked.

"I am tired. There are no reasons for everything in the world!" I answered.

He kept silent the whole night, seemingly in deep thought, with a lighted cigarette at all times. My feeling of disappointment only increased. Here was a man who was not able to even express his predicament, so what else could I expect from him?

And finally he asked me: "What can I do to change your mind?"

Somebody said it right... It's hard to change a person's personality, and I guess, I have started losing faith in him.

Looking deep into his eyes I slowly answered: "Here is the question. If you can answer and convince my heart, I will change my mind.

Let's say, I want a flower located on the face of a mountain cliff, and we both are sure that picking the flower will cause your death. Will you do it for me?"

He said: "I will give you your answer tomorrow...."

My hopes just sank by listening to his response.

I woke up the next morning to find him gone, and saw a piece of paper with his scratchy handwriting underneath a milk glass, on the dining table near the front door, that goes....

My dear, "I would not pick that flower for you, but....please allow me to explain the reasons further.....

This first line was already breaking my heart. I continued reading.

"When you use the computer you always mess up the Software programs, and you cry in front of the screen. I have to save my fingers so that I can help to restore the programs.

You always leave the house keys behind, thus I have to save my legs to rush home to open the door for you.

You love traveling but always lose your way in a new city . I have to save my eyes to show you the way.

You always have the cramps whenever your "good friend" approaches every month. I have to save my palms so that I can calm the cramps in your tummy.

You like to stay indoors, and I worry that you will be infected by infantile autism. I have to save my mouth to tell you jokes and stories to cure your boredom.

You always stare at the computer, and that will do nothing good for your eyes. I have to save my eyes so that when we grow old, I can help to clip your nails and help to remove those annoying white hairs. So I can also hold your hand while strolling down the beach, as you enjoy the sunshine and the beautiful sand...and tell you the colour of flowers, just like the colour of the glow on your young face...

Thus, my dear, unless I am sure that there is someone who loves you more than I do... I could not pick that flower yet, and die ... "

My tears fell on the letter, and blurred the ink of his handwriting...and as I continue on reading... "Now, that you have finished reading my answer, and if you are satisfied, please open the front door for I am standing outside bringing your favorite bread and fresh milk...

I rushed to pull open the door, and saw his anxious face, clutching tightly with his hands, the milk bottle and loaf of bread....Now I am very sure that no one will ever love me as much as he does, and I have decided to leave the flower alone...

That's LIFE, and LOVE. When one is surrounded by love, the feeling of excitement fades away, and one tends to ignore the true love that lies in between the peace and dullness.

Love shows up in all forms; even in very small and cheeky forms. It has never been a model. It could be the dullest and most boring form...

Flowers, and romantic moments are only used and appear on the surface of the relationship. Under all this, the pillar of true love stands... AND THAT'S OUR LIFE

Got as a forward

Are You Smart?

So you think you are Smart

So, take the following test presented here and determine if you are losing it or are still "with it."

OK, relax, clear your mind and... lets begin. Don't scroll down until you have the answer and dont cheat!

*******

1. What do you put in a toaster?

Answer: Cows drink water. If you said "milk," please do not attempt the next question. Your brain is obviously over stressed and may even overheat.

If you said "water" then proceed to question 3.

*******

3. If a red house is made from red bricks and a blue house is made from blue bricks and a pink house is made from pink bricks and a black house is made from black bricks, what is a green house made from?

4. Its twenty years ago, and a plane is flying at 20,000 feet over Germany(If you will recall, Germany at the time was politically divided into West Germany and East Germany.)

Anyway, during the flight, TWO of the engines fail. The pilot, realizing that the last remaining engine is also failing, decides on a crash landing procedure. Unfortunately the engine fails before he has time and the plane fatally crashes smack in the middle of "no man's land" between East Germany and West Germany.

Where would you bury the survivors? East Germany or West Germany or in "no man's land"?

.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

Answer: You don't, of course, bury survivors. If you said ANYTHING else,

you are a real dunce and you must NEVER try to rescue anyone from a plane crash. Your efforts would not be appreciated. If you said, "Don't bury the survivors", then proceed to the next question.

In Sweden, two people get off and four get on. In Cardiff, 11 people get off and 16 people get on.

In Swansea, three people get off and five people get on In Carmarthen, six people get off and three get on. You then arrive at MilfordHaven. What was the name of the bus driver?

Answer: Oh, for crying out loud! Don't you remember your own name? It was YOU! Read the question carefully.

********

Now pass this along to all your "smart friends" and hope they do better than you did.

(PS: 95% of people fail in most of the questions!)

CA vs MBA Student

A CA and a MBA student go on a camping trip, set up their tent, and fell asleep.

Some hours later, the CA wakes his MBA friend and says:

"Look up at the sky and tell me what you see."

The MBA replies, "I see millions of stars."

The CA asks, "What does that tell you?"

The MBA ponders for a minute.... "Astronomically speaking, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets.

Astrologically, it tells me that Saturn is in Leo.

Time wise, it appears to be approximately a quarter past three.

Theologically, it's evident the Lord is all-powerful and we are small and insignificant.

Meteorologically, it seems we will have a beautiful day tomorrow.

What does it tell you?"

The CA is silent for a moment, then speaks.... "Practically. ..Someone has stolen our tent".

Dr.Jayaprakash Narayan and Chiranjeevi

Before entering politics, Chiranjeevi discussed with Dr.Jayaprakash Narayana on politics, and Dr.JP joining him. At that time, Dr.JP had told him that, if Chiranjeevi is coming to change the existing politics, then he would be ready to make Chiranjeevi as the Chief Minister. But, if he wants to start a party which is like yet another party, then Dr.JP would not help him. Chiranjeevi did not accept his proposal, and formed his own party.

Eventhough I knew this long time back, I was waiting for public information. Now, this news is made public by Dr.JP himself on the occassion of Jhansi Lakshmi joining Loksatta.

Developing Sharepoint Application By Using Visual Studio 2008

To Develop Sharepoint Application by using Visual Studio, we need to have Sharepoint Extensions for Visual Studio. It can be isntalled from

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=7BF65B28-06E2-4E87-9BAD-086E32185E68&displaylang=en

This installer is supported only for 32 bit OS. It is not supported for 64 bit OS.

For the development of the sharepoint application, I have used Visual Studio 2008 Team Suite, Sharepoint Server 2007 and Windows Server 2008.

Open Visual Studio, Select File -> New -> Project.

In the dialog, Select Sharepoint -> Team Site Definition, and enter the name, location and click Ok.

Once the solution is created, add a new item.

and Select Visual C# -> Sharepoint -> List Definition and click Ok.

This will show the following dialog.

Select Custom List and check Create an Instance of this List. If you want to add an event handler, you can check Add with Event Receiver. Once you click Ok, it will show the following in the solution explorer.

Open instance.xml, and add OnQuickLaunch="TRUE" Description="Krishna List Instance" as shown in the following.

If you want, you can add VersionEnabled and EnableMinorVersions as attributes of List tag in schema.xml.

To deploy the application, Press F5. It will create wsp file and deploy the application. If you are using windows 2008 server, it may give the error Access Denied while deploying the application.

To deploy the application, run the following commands from the command prompt. In windows 2008 server, the command prompt should be run as Administrator.

stsadm -o addsolution -filename TeamSiteDefinition4.wsp

stsadm -o deploysolution -name TeamSiteDefinition4.wsp -url http://krishna-2k8/sites/abcd -local -allowGacDeployment

You can find stsadm.exe in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\BIN

While creating the sharepoint instance, if you have not selected, Add with Event Receiver, then you would receive the following error message.

This solution contains no resources scoped for a Web application and cannot be deployed to a particular Web application.

You will get the above error, if you do not have any C# code to be deployed. In that case, run the following command.

stsadm -o deploysolution -name TeamSiteDefinition4.wsp -local -allowGacDeployment

Now, open the browser, and go to the website that you have given in deploysolution. In the above command, I have given http://krishna-2k8/sites/abcd

Go to Site Actions -> Create. It will open Create page of sharepoint. In that select, Web pages -> Sites and Workspaces.

Enter title, description and URL name.

Select a template -> Development contains the solutions that we deployed. Select that template and click ok. It will create the sharepoint application from our template.

To delete the solution, run the following commands

If you have selected Add with Event Receiver while creating the list instance (or if you have any C# code)
stsadm -o retractsolution -name TeamSiteDefinition4.wsp -local -url http://krishna-2k8

Otherwise
stsadm -o retractsolution -name TeamSiteDefinition4.wsp -local

and then run the following command.

stsadm -o deletesolution -name TeamSiteDefinition4.wsp

Quote of the Year

In an all hands meeting, my colleague asked the group manager about lay-offs in the company. His reply was,

"Our company has never fired even a single employee so far.

But, at the same time, we have never faced this kind of recession."
